Sarah Kozak: A Home Cook

My earliest encounters with cooking are all centered around family. Growing up in a predominantly Italian household, food was always the center of our day. Birthdays, Christmas, your average Monday- all were celebrated with delicious, home cooked meals. Learning to cook happened through osmosis. I wasn’t learning to cook, I was creating unbreakable bonds through food. I was helping my mom roll meats for an antipasto. I was peeling apples while my Nana expertly rolled out pie dough. I was grating Parmesan to top my grandmother’s Penne alla Vodka. Cooking became our love language.

After traveling half way across the country, moving to a new city, and completing my bachelors degree, I realized something was missing from my life. Something that had been there, but had fallen away. What was missing was my opportunities to share this love language with others! And that’s just what cooking is: love. The Greek’s call it an Agape Feast, or ‘Love Feast”, and that’s what I am striving here to create for you: a collection of recipes, meals, and stories that I’ve used to share my love with friends and family.

If I can offer you at least one bit of knowledge from my kitchen, remember this: Cooking is community. Build your community by sharing memories, moments, and some good food.
